耶穌生於第一世紀，以猶太人的身份成為世人的彌賽亞是神獨特的心意，福音書鼓勵我們進入這世界，去了解上主的旨意，並看看耶穌的生命如何成就此使命，無視耶穌的猶太背景就等於說聖經是一場神聖的意外，是無視上主神聖的決定。羅茲禮教授是聖地地理、語言及新約猶太背景的專家學者，著作內容涵蓋聖經歷史地理及猶太拉比的比喻。羅教授是艾阿萊考古計畫的學術總監，同時也是夏達華研道中心的學術顧問。在「猶淺入深：耶穌與祂的猶太世界」研經講座系列內羅教授會帶我們進入福音書內耶穌的猶太世界，了解第一世紀猶太教與早期教會的聯繫。
Jesus as a Jew, born in the 1st Century C.E. and becoming the Messiah for all is a divine choice. The Gospels encourage us to enter in to this world to discover God’s plan and his will that is revealed through the life of Jesus. To ignore Jesus’ Jewish background is to suggest that the Bible was a divine mistake, and to consider divine choice was irrelevant. Professor R. Steven Notley is an expert in Geography of Israel, Biblical Languages and Jewish origins of the New Testament, his publications cover topics from Historical Geography to Rabbinic Parables. Dr. Notley is the academic director of El-Araj Excavation Project (AKA Bethsaida) and also acts as the academic advisor of HaDavar Yeshiva. In this lecture series “He Came Unto His Own: Jesus in His Jewish World”, we will be guided into Jesus’ Jewish world that is presented in the Gospels in order to expand our knowledge between the connection between 1st Century Judaism and the Early Church.

R·史蒂文·羅茲禮博士（Dr. R. Steven Notley）
羅茲禮教授 1993年於耶路撒冷希伯來大學獲得博士學位（Comparative Religions；宗教比較），與著名猶太教學者大衛‧傅莎（David Flusser）一同研習。居於以色列共十六年，曾帶領學生走遍以色列、土耳其、黎巴嫩、敘利亞、希臘、意大利等聖經提到的地方，著深研究聖地歷史地理。2005年與舊約學者 Anson F. Rainey 合著《神聖的橋樑：地圖集》（The Sacred Bridge）聖地地圖集。羅教授現任教於以色列的基尼列學院（Kinneret College）及紐約的葉史瓦大學（Yeshiva University），是艾阿萊考古計劃的學術總監，也是夏達華研道中心的顧問之一。
Professor Notley earned his doctorate in Comparative Religions at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1993. He studied with famous Jewish Scholar David Flusser, and lived in Israel for 16 years. During these years, Dr. Notley has guided students through the Biblical lands of Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Greece, and Italy. Dr. Notley now teaches at Kinneret College in Israel and Yeshiva University in New York City, he is the academic director of El-Araj Excavation Project and also serves as acadamic advisor for HaDavar Yeshiva(for the Nations).
